The author aims at a generalization of results obtained by \textit{Y. Li} and \textit{G. Zhu} [J. Phys. A 19, 3713-3725 (1986; Zbl 0658.35077)], where the \(2\times 2\)-matrix isospectral AKNS hierarchy is investigated. The present paper displays an infinite dimensional Lie algebraic structure of the \(N\times N\) nonisospectral AKNS hierarchy, which is similar to the one given by Li und Zhu, but is derived by a different method. The results are too technical to be described here in more detail.
