In this note the problem of best approximation of functions defined on the n-dimensional torus \(T^ n\) is considered. In particular lower and upper estimates are given for the error by best approximation with polynomials of given degree, where the functions f on \(T_ n\) are from two special classes \(H^ r_ p\) and \(W_ p^{r,\alpha}\). These results are used to derive bounds for the corresponding \(\epsilon\)- entropies.
