    The authors consider the transformation \(H_{\nu}\) defined for \(f\in C_ 0\) and \(\nu \in {\mathbb{R}},\nu \neq -1,-3,...\) by the equation \((H_{\nu}f)(x)=\int^{\infty}_{0}(xt)^{1/2}J_{\nu,\ell}(xt)f(t)dt \) where \(\ell\) is the least non negative integer such that \(\nu +2\ell >- 1\) and \(J_{\nu,\ell}(x)=\sum^{\infty}_{n=\ell}(-1)^ n(x/2)^{\nu +2n}/[n!\Gamma (n+\nu +1)]\) denotes the function obtained by taking the standard representation of the Bessel function \(J_{\nu}(x)\) as a series of ascending powers of x and omitting the first \(\ell\) terms. Let \({\mathcal L}_{\mu,p}\) for \(1\leq p<\infty\), \(\mu\in {\mathbb{R}}\) be the space of functions f defined on (0,\(\infty)\) such that \(\{\int^{\infty}_{0}| x^{\mu}f(x)|^ pdx/x\}^{1/p}<\infty\) or \(ess \sup_{x>0}| x^{\mu}f(x)| <\infty\) if \(p=\infty.\) Let \(\gamma (p)=\max (1/p,1/p'),\) \(p'=p/(p-1),\nu <-1\) and \(\gamma (p)\leq \mu <\nu +2\ell +\frac{3}{2}\) then the authors establish for \(H_{\nu}\) on \({\mathcal L}_{\mu,l}\) a boundedness theorem and for \(f\in {\mathcal L}_{\mu,p}\) a representation theorem and several formulae of inversion such as the formula \[ f(x)=-x^{\nu +1/2}(x^{- 1}d/dx)^ 3x^{5/2-\nu}\int^{\infty}_{0}(xt)^{1/2}J_{\nu - 3,\ell +3}(xt)(H_{\nu}f)(t)t^{-3}dt \] valid for \(\mu <\frac{3}{2}- (\nu +2\ell).\) Similar formulae are derived for the cases \(\mu >\frac{3}{2}-(\nu +2\ell)\) and \(\mu =\frac{3}{2}-(\nu +2\ell).\)
