    The authors present a systematic study and establish some new results for the oscillation of all solutions of the functional-differential equation \[ L_{n}x(t)+\delta q(t)F(x[g(t)])=0, \] where \(n\geq 2,\) \(\delta =\pm 1,\) \(L_{0}x(t)=x(t),\) \[ L_{k}x(t)=\frac{1}{a_{k}(t)}\frac{d}{dt} L_{k-1}x(t),\quad k=1,2,\dots,n-1, \] \(L_{n}x(t)=\frac{d}{dt}[L_{n-1}x(t)]^{\alpha }\) (\(\alpha\) is the quotient of positive odd integers), \(a_{i}\in C([t_{0},\infty ),(0,\infty )),\) \(t_{0}\geq 0,\) and \(\int^{\infty}a_{i}(t)ds=\infty,\) \(i=1,2,\dots,n-1;\) \(q\in C([t_{0},\infty),(0,\infty ));\) \(g\in C([t_{0},\infty),(-\infty ,\infty ))\) is nondecreasing and \(\lim_{t\rightarrow +\infty}g(t)=\infty;\) \(f\in C((-\infty ,\infty),(-\infty ,\infty ))\) is nondecreasing and \(xf(x)>0\) for \(x\neq 0.\)
