Let \(F\) be a field of characteristic not equal \(2\). An \(m\times{n}\times{q}\) spatial matrix is an array \(A=(a_{ijk})_{i=1}{^m}_{j=1}{^n}_{k=1}{^q}\), \(a_{ijk}\in{F}\). Two \(m\times{n}\times{q}\) spatial matrices \({A}=(a_{ijk})_{i=1}{^m}_{j=1}{^n}_{k=1}{^q}\) and \({B}=(b_{i'j'k'})_{i'=1}{^m}_{j'=1}{^n}_{k'=1}{^q}\) are said to be \textit{equivalent} if there are invertible matrices \(S=(s_{ii'})\in {F{^{m\times m}}}, R=(r_{jj'})\in {F{^{n\times n}}}\), and \(T=(t_{kk'})\in {F{^{q\times q}}}\) such that \(b_{i'j'k'}=\sum{a}_{ijk}s_{ii'}r_{jj'}t_{kk'}\). The authors classify all \(m\times{n}\times{q}\) spatial matrices, with \({n}\leq{2}\) and \({q}\leq{2}\) (up to an equivalency) to 8 canonical forms.
