The paper addresses a question formulated by G. Mokobodzki in 1991. Let \((E, {\mathcal B}, m)\) be a Lusin space with a \(\sigma \)-finite measure and \(({\mathcal E}, D({\mathcal E}))\) be a semi-Dirichlet form on \(L^2 (E, m)\). Can one find a topology on \(E\), such that: \(E\) becomes a Lusin topological space; \(\mathcal B\) equals the Borel \(\sigma \)-algebra; and \(({\mathcal E}, D({\mathcal E}))\) is quasi-regular with respect to this topology? The main result of this paper shows that the answer is positive, under the condition to accept the enlargement of \(E\) by a \(m\)-negligible set. In fact, the authors prove a more general result, valid for \(L^p\)-resolvents. The construction of the new topology is illustrated on the classical maximal Dirichlet form on \([0, 1)\). A different approach to the same question was presented in \textit{Z. Dong} [Acta Math. Sin., New Ser. 14, Suppl., 683--690 (1998; Zbl 0924.31006)].
