Let \(\{f_0,\dotsc,f_n;q_0,\dotsc,g_n\}\) be a sequence of homogeneous polynomials in \(2n+2\) variables with no common zeros in \(\mathbb{P}^{2n+1}\) such that \(Q:=\sum_{i=0}^nf_ig_i\) is a homogeneous polynomial. The hypersurface \(X\) defined by \(Q\) is called \textit{generalized quadric}. In the paper under review, the authors prove that the generalized quadrics in \(\mathbb{P}_{\mathbb{C}}^{2n+1}\) for \(n\geq 1\) are reduced. The proof uses intersection theory and Chern classes over (possibly non-reduced) schemes.
