    This paper concerns the large time behavior of solutions of the degenerate parabolic Cauchy problem \[ \begin{aligned} &\partial_t u=\Delta\phi(u) +m(x)u\quad\text{ in }\;(0,+\infty)\times \mathbb R^n, \\ & u(0,x) = u_0(x) \quad\text{ for }\;x \in \mathbb R^n, \\ & \lim_{| x| \to \infty} u(t,x) = 0\quad\text{ for }\;t \in (0,+\infty), \end{aligned} \] where \(m\) is a Hölder continuous function which could be negative in a bounded set of \(\mathbb R^n\), and \(\phi : [0,+\infty) \to [0,+\infty)\) is convex and increasing such that \(\phi(0)=\phi^\prime(0) = 0,\;\lim_{r \to +\infty}\frac{\phi(r)}r = +\infty\) and \(\phi \in C^1([0,+\infty)) \cap C^{2, \alpha}((0,+\infty))\) for some \(0 < \alpha < 1\). \textit{M. Schatzman} [Indiana Univ. Math. J. 33, 1--29 (1984; Zbl 0554.35064)] considered the opposite case where \(\limsup_{| x| \to \infty} m(x) < 0\). The main concern is to investigate attractivity properties of positive solutions of the stationary problem \[ -\Delta u = m(x)\psi(u)\quad\text{ in }\;\mathbb R^n, \] where \(\psi\) is the reciprocal of \(\phi\). Under the existence of a bounded positive solution \(U\) of \[ -\Delta U = m(x)\quad\text{ in }\;\mathbb R^n \;\text{ and }\;\liminf_{| x| \to \infty}\, U(x) = 0, \] the authors show the existence and uniqueness of the stationary solution \(u^0\) satisfying \[ \lim_{| x| \to \infty} u^0(x) = 0, \] and in view of a pair of positive sub- and supersolutions of the stationary problem, they show the attractivity properties of \(u^0\). Some corrections are necessary in the statement of the main theorem (Theorem 1.4). In (1), \(\underline{u}, \overline{u}\) and \(u(\cdot)\) should be \(\psi(\underline{u}), \psi(\overline{u})\) and \(\psi(u(\cdot))\), respectively. In (2), \(\underline{u}\) should be \(\psi(\underline{u})\).
