    This is one of the series of papers about the random energy model conjecture for Sherrington-Kirkpatrick models. The other papers of the series are \textit{A. Bovier} and \textit{I. Kurkova} [Commun. Math. Phys. 263, 513--533 (2006; Zbl 1104.82026); ibid. 263, 535--552 (2006; Zbl 1104.82027)] Consider the Hamiltonian \[ H_N(\sigma) = N^{(1-p)/2} \sum_{1\leq i_1, \cdots, i_p \leq N} J_{i_1\cdots i_p} \sigma_{i_1}\cdots \sigma_{i_p} \] for random coupling spin system, where \( \{ J_{i_1\cdots i_p} \mid 1\leq i_1, \cdots, i_p \leq N \}\) is a family of independent standard Gaussian random variables, \( p \in {\mathbb N}\), and \( \sigma \in {\mathcal S}_N = \{ 1, -1 \}^N\). The conjecture claims that \[ {\mathcal P}_N \equiv \sum_{\sigma \in {\mathcal S}_N } \delta_{\{\delta_N^{-1}| N^{-1/2}H_N(\sigma) - cN^{\alpha}| \}} \] converges weakly to the standard Poisson point process for any small constant \(c\), where \(\delta_N = 2^{-N}e^{c^2N^{2\alpha}/2}\sqrt{\pi /2}\). In this paper, the conjecture is proved for the cases \( \alpha = 1/2, \, p \geq 3 \) and disproved for the cases \( \alpha = 1/2, \, p = 1, 2\).
