    Let \(X\) be a metric space. For an \(x \in X, \; r>0, \; B(x,r)\) is the closed ball with center at \(x\) and radius \(r\). For any \(E \subset X\), \(\dim_{H} E\) denotes the Hausdorff dimension of \(E\). A Borel measure \(\mu\) on \(X\) is called doubling if there is a \(c \geq 1\) such that \( 0 < B(x,2r) \leq cB(x,r) < \infty\), \(\forall r>0\), \(\forall x \in X\). With these notations, the two main results of the paper are: (i) There is a compact set \(X \subset [0, 1] \), with \(\dim_{H} X=1\), such that all doubling measures on \(X\) are purely atomic. (ii) There is a compact set \( X \subset [0, 1] \), with \(\dim_{H} X=0\) and having a dense set of isolated points, such that no doubling measure on \(X\) is purely atomic.
