Studied is the following equation \((u^k)_t=\Delta u+u^q\int_0^t u^p(x,s)\, ds,\) \(x\in\Omega,\) \(t>0,\) with the homogeneous Dirichlet boundary condition. Concerning the blow-up and existence of solutions to this equation with positive initial data \(u_0\geq 0,\) the authors obtain three results, in terms of the positive parameters \(p,q\) and \(k\): If \(p+q>k\) and \(u_0\) is sufficiently large, then the solution blows up in finite time. If \(p+q\leq k,\) then the solution exists globally for any \(u_0\geq 0.\) If \(q>1\) and \(u_0\) is sufficiently small, then the solution exists globally. The method for proving these results is the comparison method.
