The paper deals with the solvability of the periodic problem with an operator of \(p\)-Laplacian type \[ -(\alpha(t,x'(t)))'=f(t,x(t)),\quad x(0)=x(b),\;x'(0)=x'(b). \leqno(1) \] Some examples of possible forms of \(\alpha(t,y)\) are shown. Particularly, the case \(\alpha(t,y):= | y| ^{p-1}y\), \(p>1\), is admitted. The paper establishes the existence of at least two nontrivial solutions of problem (1). The main result in contained in Theorem 2 which covers strongly resonance problems in the sense of Bartolo-Benci-Fortunato. The arguments involve the use of the so-called ``second deformation theorem''.
