The \(D_2\) problem asks whether a cohomologically 2-dimensional geometric 3-complex is necessarily homotopy equivalent to a geometric 2-complex. Using Swan maps, the author solves part of the problem for \(\pi_1=D_{2^n}\) and gives a complete proof for \(D_8\).
