Let \(\mathbb F_q\) be a finite field of characteristic 2 (with \(q\) elements), \(M(q)\) be the set of polynomials \(P\in\mathbb F_q[t]\) that are sums of cubes and \(g(3,\mathbb F_q[t])\) be the minimal integer such that every \(P\in M(q)\) is a strict sum of \(g\) cubes. In this paper, the authors prove that \(5\leq g(3,\mathbb F_2[t])\leq 6\). The proof of the result depends on some identities (see Lemma 1 and Lemma 2).
