The family of Fourier series \(f_{\alpha,k}(x)=\sum_{n=1}^\infty n^{-\alpha}e^{2\pi in^kx}\) with \(\alpha>1\) and \(k=2,3,\dots\) is of great interest in real and harmonic analysis for obtaining important counterexamples. Such local and global properties of \(f_{\alpha,2}\) as local Hölder continuity, self-similarity, trigonometric chirps, spectrum of singularities and fractal dimension have been explored by many authors. The techniques ranged from number theory to wavelet analysis. The results for \(k>2\) have started to appear just recently. In the paper under review, \(f_{\alpha,k}\) is studied for general \(k\) by combining methods from number theory and harmonic analysis.
