The aim of this note is to investigate the asymptotic behaviour of the sojourn time \[ T(r)=\int_0^{\tau}I_{\{|X(s)|\leq r\}}\,ds \] of the Cauchy process \(X(t)\) in the ball \(B(0,r)\) of radius r centered at zero up to time \(\tau,\) or of the process \(f(s)=\inf\{|X(t)|:\;s\leq t\leq \tau\}.\) Both proved results are related to the symmetric Cauchy process \(X(t)\) on the line, which is a Levy process uniquely determined by its Fourier transform \[ \int_{-\infty}^{\infty}e^{itz}g(t,x)\,dx=e^{-t|z|}, \] where \(g(t,x)=(1/\pi)(t/(t^2+x^2)),\;t>0,\;x\in R^1:\) They are formulated as follows: \[ 1.\;\liminf_{r\to 0}\frac{T(r)}{\psi(r)}=\left\{ \begin{matrix} 0, & \text{if}\;\int_{0+}\frac{h(x)}{x\ln(1/x)}dx=\infty,\\ \infty, & \text{otherwise}, \end{matrix} \right. \] \(\psi(r)=rh(r),\) where \(h(r)\) is a monotone increasing function; \[ 2.\;\limsup_{s\to 0}\frac{f(s)}{\varphi(s)}=\begin{cases} 0, & \text{if}\;\sum(1/g(\rho^{-k})[k+|\log g(\rho^{-k})|])\;\text{is\;finite},\\ \infty, & \text{otherwise}, \end{cases} \] \(\varphi(s)=sg(s),\) where \(g(s)\) is a monotone decreasing function.
