Let \(B(H)\) be the algebra of all bounded linear operators from \(H\) to \(H\). If \(T\in B(H)\), then \(N(T)\) denotes its kernel, \(R(T)\) its range, and \(T^{*}\) its adjoint operator. An operator \(T\) with closed range is called EP if \(N(T)=N(T^{*})\). In this paper, the authors characterize EP operators through the existence of different types of factorizations. Their results extend existing characterizations for EP matrices to EP operators and they give new characterizations both of EP matrices and EP operators.
