The authors consider bimodal state-base switched systems, that is, variable structure systems of the form \[ \dot x=\begin{cases} f_1(x)& \text{if }h(x)\geq 0,\\ f_2(x)& \text{if }h(x)\leq 0,\end{cases} \] where \(h\) is a given function. They are interested to find conditions for the existence and uniqueness of piecewise classical solutions. Basically, this is equivalent to find conditions which exclude the so-called Zeno phenomenon. The same problem has been previously studied in \textit{F. Ceragioli}, Finite valued feedback laws and piecewise classical solutions [Nonlinear Anal., Theory Methods Appl. 65, 984--998 (2006; Zbl 1134.93340)].
