A finite rank torsion-free Abelian group is called `almost completely decomposable' if it has a completely decomposable subgroup of finite index. While the structure of completely decomposable groups is well known and quite simple, almost completely decomposable groups are more complicated. In the study of almost completely decomposable groups, regulating subgroups (i.e., some special completely decomposable subgroups) play an important rôle. In general these regulating subgroups are not unique, and their intersection is called the regulator of the group. The main aim of the present paper is to describe \((1,2)\)-almost completely decomposable groups (i.e., \(p\)-reduced groups, with their regulator of index a power of \(p\) such that their critical typeset is a poset \((1,2)=(\tau_1,\tau_2<\tau_3)\)) which are indecomposable. This aim is realized for \((1,2)\)-almost completely decomposable groups with regulator index \(\leq p^3\) (Corollary 5.5). This is a consequence of some more general results proved about \((1,2)\)-groups (Theorem 5.2, Theorem 5.3). For proofs, the authors use nice results about integer matrices (e.g. Lemma 3.2 and Proposition 3.4).
