The paper under review is concerned with composition factors of Mackey functors for a finite group \(G\) over a field \(\mathbb K\). Recall that the simple Mackey functors \(S^G_{H,V}\) for \(G\) over \(\mathbb K\) are parametrized by pairs \((H,V)\) where \(H\) is a subgroup of \(G\) (up to conjugation) and \(V\) is a simple \(\mathbb K[N_G(H)/H]\)-module (up to isomorphism). The author establishes, for \(H\leq K\leq G\) and a simple \(\mathbb K[N_K(H)/H]\)-module \(W\), a bijection between the minimal (resp. maximal) subfunctors of \(\text{Ind}^G_K(S^K_{H,W})\) and the minimal (resp. maximal) submodules of \(\text{Ind}^{N_G(H)/H}_{N_K(H)/H} (W)\). Similar results hold for restrictions of simple Mackey functors. Let \(M\) be a Mackey functor for \(G\) over \(\mathbb K\) where \(\text{char}(\mathbb K)=p>0\). For \(H\leq G\) and a simple \(\mathbb K[N_G(H)/H]\)-module \(U\), the author relates the multiplicity of \(S^G_{H,U}\) in the head of \(M\) to the multiplicity of \(U\) in the head of a quotient of \(\overline{M}(H)\) where \(\overline{M}\) denotes the Brauer quotient of \(M\). There is also an analogous result on the multiplicity of \(S^G_{H,U}\) in the socle of \(M\). In addition, the paper deals with Mackey functors having a unique maximal or minimal subfunctor, and with uniserial Mackey functors. There are also specific results on the Loewy structure of the Burnside functor.
