    This paper deals with a preserver problem between spaces of continuous functions. Let \(X,Y\) be compact spaces and \(T:C(X) \rightarrow C(Y)\) be a surjection such that (a) \(T(\lambda) = \lambda\) for \(\lambda \in \{\pm 1,\pm i\}\) and (b) \(\|(Tf) (\overline{Tg})-1\|=\|f\bar{g}-1\|\) for all \(f,g \in C(X)\). Then \(T\) is an isometry, in other words, \(Tf= f\circ \phi\) for a surjective homeomorphism \(\phi:Y \rightarrow X\).
