The authors consider the Dirichlet series \(\sum_{n\in A}n^{-s}\), where \(A\) is the set of positive integers whose \(g\)-ary digital expansions only consist of digits in a subset \(D\subset\{0,\ldots,g-1\}\) (with \(D\neq \emptyset\), \(D\neq\{0\}\)). Then the abscissa of convergence of the Dirichlet series is shown to be \(\log_g |D|\). If \(A\) is the set of positive integers whose \(g\)-ary digital expansions do not contain some block \(d_1d_2\ldots d_r\), where \(d_1\), \(\ldots\), \(d_r\) are pairwise distinct digits, then the abscissa of convergence of the Dirichlet series is \(\log_g \alpha\), where \(\alpha\) denotes the real zero of the polynomial \(z^r-gz^{r-1}+1\) with \(g-1<\alpha<g\). A generalization to several variables is also given.
