To work on the classification on the triplanes with a flag-transitive automorphisms group it is proved that the socle of a flag-transitive and point-primitive automorphism group \(G\) of a non-trivial triplane \(\mathcal D\) cannot be a sporadic simple group. A gap in \textit{E. O'Reilly Regueiro} [``On primitivity and reduction for flag-transitive symmetric designs'', J. Comb. Theory, Ser. A 109, No.\,1, 135--148 (2005; Zbl 1055.05014)] is filled to have that so if \(\mathcal D\) is a nontrivial triplane with a flag-transitive automorphism group \(G\) then \(\mathcal D\) is a \(2-(45,12,3)\) symmetric design or \(G\) is an affine group or the socle of \(G\) is an alternating group, a classical group or an exeptional group of Lie type.
