Let \(k\) be a field and \(q\) a nonzero element of \(k\). Consider two \(k\)-algebras: the quantum polynomial algebra \(\mathcal O_q(k^2)=\langle x,y\mid xy=qyx\rangle\) and the quantum Weyl algebra \(A_1(k)=\langle x,y\mid xy-qyx=1\rangle\). Let \(R\) be one of these algebras and \(F=ax^2+bxy+cy^2+f\in R\) where \(a,b,c,f\in k\). The aim of the paper is to find necessary and sufficient conditions under which \(F\) can be decomposed into a product of two linear factors. A criterion of normality of \(F\) is also found. It is also found a criterion under which \(F\) is a prime element of \(R\), that is if \(F\) divides a product of two elements then it divides one of them.
