Approximation of nonlinear integral functionals (Q1048562)

In earlier papers [\textit{V. V. Kozlov} and \textit{D. V. Treshchev}, Theor. Math. Phys. 151, No. 1, 539--555 (2007); translation from Teor. Mat. Fiz. 151, No. 1, 120--137 (2007; Zbl 1119.82005) and \textit{V. V. Treshchev} and \textit{G. N. Piftankin}, Russ. Math. Surv. 62, No. 2, 219--322 (2007); translation from Uspekhi Mat. Nauk 62, No. 2, 3--108 (2007; Zbl 1151.37050)], for a measure preserving dynamical system on the probability space \((M,{\mathcal F},\mu)\), the question of approximating the fine entropy \(S(f)=-\int_M f\ln f\,d\mu\) (\(f\) a measurable functon), by certain ``rough'' entropies was considered. In this paper ideas from those papers are made more precise and the question of approximating the fine entropy by functionals of the form \(S(f)=-\int_M V(f(x)) d\mu(x)\), for some suitable convex function \(V\), is considered.
