Let \((S,g)\) be a polarized \(K3\) surface, then it is known that a divisor \(h\) on \(S\) is ample if and only if, for any curve \(C\) with \(C^2\geq -2\) and \(g\cdot C>0\), we have \(h\cdot C>0\). In the paper under review, the authors show that if \(F\) is a projective algebraic variety deformation equivalent to the blowup of a symmetric square of a \(K3\) surface along the diagonal and \(g\) is an ample divisor on \(F\), then the ample cone of \(F\) is determined by the Beauville-Bogomolov quadratic form \((\;,\;)\) on \(H^2(X,\mathbb Z)\). More precisely we have that \(h\) is ample if \((h,\rho)>0\) for any divisor class \(\rho\) such that \((g,\rho )>0\) and either i) \((\rho,\rho )\geq -2\); or ii) \((\rho,\rho )=-10\) and \((\rho , H^2(F,\mathbb Z))=2\mathbb Z\).
