The authors analyze the discrete maximum principle for a non-stationary problem solved by prismatic finite elements and a \(\theta\)-method. They derive geometric conditions on the shape parameters of the prismatic partitions and the time steps for the DMP. In section 3 the discrete maximum principle is explained. Prismatic finite element method is studied in section 4. At the end of the paper, numerical results show the sharpness of the obtained conditions.
