Let \(X\) be a reduced irreducible curve with at most nodes as singularities, \(\pi: \tilde X \to X\) its normalization. The description of torsion-free sheaves on \(X\) is studied in terms of vector bundles with additional structure on \(\tilde X\) (cf. [\textit{C. S. Seshadri}, ``Fibres vectoriels sur les courbes algebriques'', Astérisque 96 (1982; Zbl 0517.14008)]). For the sake of simplicity assume that \(X\) has one node \(x\) with \(\pi^{-1}(x)=\{ p_1, p_2\}\). Seshadri showed that there is a canonical bijection between torsion-free sheaves on \(X\) and triples \((E,(\Delta_1, \Delta_2), \sigma)\) consisting of a vector bundle \(E\) on \(\tilde X\), a pair of vector subspaces \((\Delta_1, \Delta_2)\) with \(\Delta_i \subset E(p_i)\) and an isomorphism \(\sigma: \Delta_1 \to \Delta_2.\) The authors give a new proof of Seshadri's result and discuss the functoriality of the construction. Particularly, the notion of the morphism of triples is introduced. They prove that the category of torsion-free sheaves on \(X\) is equivalent to the category of such triples. The notion of stability of triples is defined and related to the notion of stability torsion-free sheaves on \(X\).
