Dihedral manifold approximate fibrations over the circle (Q711653)

The main result of this paper is to find necessary and sufficient conditions for a finitely dominated manifold \(W\) of dimension \(>4\) to admit a cocompact, free, discontinuous action by the infinite dihedral group \(D_{\infty}\). This result extends \textit{T. A. Chapman}'s result in [Approximation results in topological manifolds, Mem. Am. Math. Soc. 251, 64 p. (1981; Zbl 0478.57009)], that is, Chapman proved the same result in the case of the infinite cyclic group \(C_{\infty}\). One interesting thing is that the authors develop a very general theory to prove the main theorem, which has its own value.
