The aim of this paper is to improve the results on holomorphic extensibility given by \textit{J. Globevnik} [Publ. Mat., Barc. 52, No. 1, 171--188 (2008; Zbl 1149.30031); J. Math. Anal. Appl. 351, No. 1, 285--290 (2009; Zbl 1157.30002)]. The main result is the following theorem: Let \(f\) be an \(\alpha\)-Hölder continuous function on the unit circle \(\mathbb{T}\), \(\alpha > 1/2\). Then \(f\) extends to a meromorphic function in the unit disc \(\mathbb{D}\) with at most \(m\) poles, \(m \in \mathbb N\), if and only if the winding number of \(f+h\) on \(\mathbb{T}\) around the origin, \(w_{\mathbb{T}}(f+h)\), satisfies \(w_{\mathbb{T}}(f+h)\geq -m\) for every \(h\) belonging to the algebra of functions continuous on \(\overline{\mathbb{D}}\) and holomorphic in \(\mathbb{D}\) such that \(f+h \not= 0\) on \(\mathbb{T}\).
