Nonsmoothable group actions on spin 4-manifolds (Q538634)

The main result of the paper states the following (Theorem 1.1): Let \(X\) be a closed simply connected spin four-manifold not homeomorphic to either \(S^4\) or \(S^2\times S^2\). Then for any sufficiently large prime \(p\) there exists a homologically trivial pseudofree locally linear action of \(\mathbb Z_p\) on \(X\) which is nonsmoothable. The author also gives an estimate on the prime numbers in the theorem in terms of Betti numbers of the manifold and provides examples.
