The authors discuss global existence of smooth solutions of the Dirichlet problem to the equation \(u_{tt}-(a^{ij}(x)u_{x_j})_{x_i}+u^5=0\), \(t>0\), \(x\in \Omega \), where \(\Omega \subset \mathbb{R}^3\) is the exterior of a smooth compact obstacle. They define the metric \(g=(a^{ij}(x))^{-1}\) and introduce the distance function \(\rho \) on the Riemannian manifold \((\Omega ,g)\). To derive the global existence they show that the energy cannot concentrate at any point \((t,x)\in (0,+\infty )\times \overline {\Omega }\). Finally, using the Strichartz inequality (similarly as \textit{H. F. Smith} and \textit{C. D. Sogge} [J. Am. Math. Soc. 8, No. 4, 879--916 (1995; Zbl 0860.35081)]) they finish the proof.
