Let \(R\) be a 2-torsion free semiprime ring and \(L\) a noncentral Lie ideal of \(R\) so that \(a^2\in L\) for all \(a\in L\). An additive \(d\colon R\to R\), written \(d(x)=x^d\), is a Jordan triple derivation on \(L\) if for all \(x,y\in L\), \((xyx)^d=x^dyx+xy^dx+xyx^d\). For \(D\) a derivation of \(R\) and an additive \(G\colon R\to R\), \((G,D)\) is a generalized derivation on \(L\) if for all \(x,y\in L\), \((xy)^G=x^Gy+xy^D\), is a generalized Jordan derivation on \(L\) if \((x^2)^G=x^Gx+xx^D\), and is a generalized Jordan triple derivation on \(L\) if \((xyx)^G=x^Gyx+xy^Dx+xyx^D\). The authors show that when \(d\) is a Jordan triple derivation on \(L\) then \(d\) acts as a derivation on \(L\) if either \(L^d\subseteq L\) or \(R\) is a prime ring. This main result of the paper is then used to prove: If \((G,D)\) is a generalized Jordan derivation on \(L\), and if \(R\) is a 2-torsion free prime ring, then \(G\) is a generalized derivation on \(L\).
