Let \(f=f(x,y)\) be a nonnegative function in the unit disc, and \[ \int\int_{R^2} f(x,y)dxdy=1,\quad f(x,y)=f(x,-y). \] The spherical Radon transform is determined as \[ Rf(t,r)=(1/2\pi) \int\int_{(x-t)^2+y^2=r^2} f(x,y) dxdy. \] The author studies the reconstruction scheme \[ f(x,y)=y k_f (x,x^2+y^2), \quad {\widehat {k_f}}(\omega_1,\omega_2)=e^{i \omega_1^2/2\omega_2} {\widetilde {Rf}}(-\omega_1/2\omega_2,\omega_2), \] \[ {\widetilde{Rf}}(t,\omega)=\int_{-\infty}^{+\infty} e^{-i \omega r^2} Rf(t,r) dr, \] proposed by N. J. Redding and G. N. Newsam. A regularized version of the scheme applicable to the case where spherical projections are noisy and are available for a finite number of points \(t\) is suggested. The author also gives error estimates for the regularized reconstruction procedure.
