    Let \(\sigma_x=\pm1\), \(x\in\{1,2,3,\dots,n\}\) and \(N_-(\sigma)=|\{x\in \{1,2,3,\dots,n\}\mid \sigma_x=-1\}|\). The main result proved by the author is the identity \[ \sum_{\sigma,N_-(\sigma)=r}e^{\frac{\beta I}{2}(\sigma_1-1)+\frac{\beta I}{2}(\sigma_n-1)+\sum_{k=1}^{n-1}\frac{\beta I}{2}(\sigma_k\sigma_{k+1}-1)}= \sum_{k=1}^r {{n-r+1}\choose{k}} {{r-1}\choose{k-1}} \chi^k \] where \(\beta, I\) are real numbers and \(\chi=e^{-2\beta I}\). He proves this by setting up a recursion relation.
