The authors consider sharp weak and strong type inequalities for maximal truncations of Calderón-Zygmund operators on \(A_p\) weighted spaces. More precisely, for a Schwartz function \(f \in \mathcal{S}(\mathbb{R}^d)\) a Calderón-Zygmund operator is an integral operator bounded in \(L^2(\mathbb{R}^d)\) and is denoted by \[ Tf(x) = \int_{\mathbb{R}^d} f(y)K(x,y) \, dy, \] where the kernel \(K(x,y)\) satisfies growth and smoothness conditions. We define the maximal truncation of \(T\) by \[ T_{\natural}f(x) = \sup_{0<\epsilon<\nu} \bigg|\int_{\epsilon<|y|<\nu} f(y)K(x,y) \, dy\bigg|. \] It is well known that \(T\) and \(T_{\natural}\) are bounded on \(L^p(\mathbb{R}^d)\) for \(1 < p < \infty\). The paper is devoted to show that the maximal truncations \(T_{\natural}\) satisfy weak and strong type inequalities on \(L^p(w)\) that are sharp in the Muckenhoupt \(A_p\) characteristic of the weight \(w\), where \[ \|w\|_{A_p} := \sup_{Q} \bigg( |Q|^{-1} \int_{Q} w \, dx \bigg)\bigg( |Q|^{-1} \int_{Q} w^{-1/(p-1)} \, dx \bigg)^{p-1}. \] In order to prove two weight inequalities of \(T_{\natural}\), they decompose a Calderón-Zygmund operator \(T\) as a rapidly convergent sum of Haar shift operators, which are dyadic variants of Calderón-Zygmund operators. Then they prove sufficient conditions of weak and strong type for Haar shift operators. The crucial strategy of the proof is that they reduce the estimates of the norm of \(T\) to that of the norm of a much simpler class of functions and do not rely on extrapolation. Moreover, they present some of variations on their main results, which are the appearance of weight characteristic different from \(\|w\|_{A_p}\).
