For locally free sheaves (or equivalently, vector bundles) defined on varieties, we can consider such algebraic positivity concepts as ampleness, positivity, nefness, pseudo-effectivity, and so on. \textit{E. Viehweg} [Quasi-projective moduli for polarized manifolds. Berlin: Springer (1995; Zbl 0844.14004)] and \textit{N. Nakayama} [Zariski-decomposition and abundance. Tokyo: Mathematical Society of Japan (2004; Zbl 1061.14018)] posed these concepts for (torsion free) coherent sheaves. According to the author, Nakayama's notion is a refined version of Viehweg's in a sense that one can talk about the ampleness of a sheaf at a given point. In this paper, the author formulates a positivity condition of torsion free sheaves in terms of a curvature positivity of singular Hermitian metric in the spirit of Nakayama, and gives an ampleness criterion of torsion free coherent sheaves at a given point. More precisely, the author deduces some local positivity properties of a torsion free coherent sheaf \(F\) defined on a smooth projective variety from the assumption on the existence of singular Hermitian metrics of the tautological line bundle \(\mathcal{O}_F(1)\) on \(\mathbb{P}(F):={\text{Proj}}\,(\bigoplus_{m\geq 0}S^m(F))\) with appropriately positive curvature currents (Theorem 1.1). Applying Theorem 1.1 to a geometric situation, the author generalizes a well-known positivity result of direct image sheaves and gives pointwise ampleness criterion in this situation (Corollary 1.2).
