The authors study the abstract nonlinear first-order delay reaction-diffusion system with nonlocal initial conditions \[ \begin{aligned} & u'(t) \in Au(t)+f(t,u_{t},v_{t}), \;t\in [ 0,\infty),\\ & v'(t) \in Bv(t)+g(t,u_{t},v_{t}), \;t\in [ 0,\infty),\\ & u(t)=p(u,v)(t), \;t\in [ -\tau ,0],\\ & v(t)=q(u,v)(t), \;t\in [ -\tau ,0],\end{aligned}\tag{1} \] where \(u\) and \(v\) map into the Banach spaces \(X\) and \(Y\), respectively, and \(A\) and \(B\) are set-valued operators. The authors prove existence of a \(C^0\)-solution of (1) under the assumptions that \(A\) and \(B\) are \(m\)-dissipative operators, \(B\) generates a compact semigroup, \(f\) and \(g\) are continuous, \(f\) satisfies a Lipschitz-type condition, and \(p\) and \(q\) are continuous and nonexpansive, among other conditions. Under additional Lipschitz-type assumptions on \(g, p\) and \(q\), uniqueness and global uniform asymptotic stability are proven. The result was motivated by those in [\textit{I. I. Vrabie}, J. Funct. Anal. 262, No. 4, 1363--1391 (2012; Zbl 1232.35185)] and [\textit{M.-D. Burlică} and \textit{D. Roşu}, Proc. Am. Math. Soc. 142, No.~7, 2445--2458 (2014; Zbl 1296.34160)] and makes use of Schauder's fixed point theorem. An example is given in which \(u\) is required to satisfy a mean condition over \([0,\infty )\) and \(v\) is periodic.
