Let \(\Omega \subset \mathbb{C}^n\) be a bounded pseudoconvex domain, \(p\in b\Omega\), and \(B(p,r)\) be a ball centered at \(p\) with radius \(r>0\) so that \(U=\Omega \cap B(p,r)\) is connected. Assume that \(\phi \in \mathcal{C}^1(\overline \Omega)\) and that the Hankel operator \(H^\Omega _\phi (f) = \phi f - P^\Omega(\phi f)\) is compact on the Bergman space \(A^2(\Omega)\). It is shown that the restriction \(H^{U}_{R_U(\phi)}\) of \(H^\Omega _\phi\) onto \(U\) is then compact on \(A^2(U)\). In the proof the author uses techniques of the \(\overline \partial\)-Neumann problem and Hörmander's \(L^2\)-estimates for the solution of the inhomogeneous Cauchy-Riemann equation. He also points out that boundedness and pseudoconvexity are necessary for the localization result.
