Let \( \Sigma \subset {\mathbb R}^{2n} \) be a smooth strictly convex hypersurface, \( N_{\Sigma} (y)\) be the normalized outward normal to \( \Sigma \) at \( y \in \Sigma \), \( J = \left(\begin{matrix} 0 & -I_n \\ I_n & 0\end{matrix}\right) \) be the standard \( 2n \times 2n \) matrix, where \( I_n \) is the identity \( n \times n \) matrix. By definition, a closed characteristic \( (\tau, y )\) is a solution of a periodic problem: \( \dot{y} = J N_{\Sigma} (y)\), \( y(\tau) = y(0)\), where \(\tau > 0 \) is usually assumed to be the minimal period of \( y(t)\). Given \( (\tau, y )\), let \(\gamma_y : [0,\tau] \to \mathrm{SP}(2n) \) with \( \gamma_y (0) = I_{2n}\) be the fundamental solution of corresponding linearized Hamiltonian system. This closed characteristic \( (\tau, y )\) is called \textit{irrationally elliptic} if in an appropriate coordinate system the matrix \(\gamma_y (\tau )\) is decomposed to the \( 2 \times 2 \) matrix \( \left(\begin{matrix} 1 & 1 \\ 0 & 1 \end{matrix} \right) \), and \( (n-1)\) rotation \( 2 \times 2 \) matrices with rotation angles \( \theta_j \), \( j = 1, \ldots, n-1\), being irrational multipliers of \( \pi \). The main results of the paper is the following. {Theorem 1.3.} Let \( \Sigma \subset {\mathbb R}^{6} \) be a compact convex hypersurface which carries exactly three geometrically distinct closed characteristics. Then at least two of them are irrationally elliptic. The author formulates some previous results and conjectures on the numbers of closed characteristics and their irrational ellipticity.
