In this paper, the authors study the problem of existence of weak solutions for a Kirchhoff type problem which is driven by a nonlocal integro-differential operator of elliptic type and with homogeneous Dirichlet boundary conditions of the form \[ M\left( \int_{\mathbb{R}^{2N}} |u(x)-u(y)|^pK(x-y)dxdy \right) \mathcal{L}^p_K u =f(x,u(x))\text{ on } \Omega, \] \[ u = 0\text{ on }\mathbb{R}^n \setminus \Omega. \] In the above, \(\mathcal{L}^p_K\) is a nonlocal operator with singular kernel \(K\), \(\Omega\) is an open bounded subset of \(\mathbb{R}^N\) with Lipschitz continuous boundary, \(M\) is a continuous function and \(f\) is a Carathéodory function satisfying the so-called Ambrosetti-Rabinowitz condition. The authors consider the above problem in the two cases when \(f\) satisfies sublinear or superlinear growth conditions. In the former case, the existence of nontrivial weak solutions is obtained by applying the direct method of calculus of variations in the appropriate functional framework adapted to the problem. In the latter case, the existence of two nontrivial weak solutions is obtained by using the mountain pass theorem of the calculus of variations. The reviewer thinks that this is a very well written and interesting paper.
