The \(\log 3\) theorem, proved by \textit{M. Culler} and \textit{P. B. Shalen} [J. Am. Math. Soc. 5, No. 2, 231--288 (1992; Zbl 0769.57010)], states that if two isometries \(A,B\) of the hyperbolic space \(\mathbb H^3\) generate a torsion-free, discrete group which is not cocompact and contains no parabolic, then every point is displaced at least by \(\log 3\) by \(A\) or \(B\). The main result of the paper is that, under the hypotheses of the \(\log 3\) theorem, every point is displaced at least by log(\(\sqrt{5+3\sqrt 2}\)) by one of \(A, B\) or \(AB\).
