A quasiconformal mapping between domains in the Euclidean \(n\)-space is absolutely continuous on almost every curve with respect to the \(n\)-modulus and hence satisfies the Lusin condition, i.e., it maps sets of zero \(1\)-measure to sets of zero \(1\)-measure, on such curves. This result is extended to metric measure spaces and the role of various dilatation quantities is clarified. Suppose that \((X,d_{X},\mu)\) and \((Y,d_{Y},\nu)\) are Ahlfors \(Q\)-regular metric measure spaces, \(1\leq p \leq Q\), \(Q > 1\), and \(E \subset X\) has \(\sigma\) finite \((Q-p)\)-Hausdorff measure. Let \(f : X \rightarrow Y\) be a homeomorphism. If for every \(x\in X \setminus E\) one of the quantities (i) \(\liminf_{r \rightarrow 0} L(x,f,r)/r\), (ii) \(\liminf_{r \rightarrow 0} h(f,x,r)\) or (iii) \(\liminf_{r \rightarrow 0} h(f^{-1},f(x),r)\) is finite, then, on \(p\) almost every curve \(\gamma\) with respect to the \(M_p\)-modulus, the mapping \(f\) satisfies the Lusin condition on \(\gamma\) and \(f(\gamma)\) is of \(\sigma\) finite length. Here \(L(x,f,r) = \sup_{y \in B(x,r)}d(f(y),f(x))\) and \(h(f,x,r) = L(f,x,r)/\inf_{y \in X \setminus B(x,r)}d(f(y),f(x))\). The author uses the Hardy-Littlewood maximal operator, the Mazur lemma to find a convergent convex combination and the concept of an upper gradient relative to \(A\) for any set \(A\) where the above quantities are bounded and applies this to larger and larger sets.
