Let \((X,d)\) be a complete cone metric space over a solid cone \(P\) of a normed vector space \((E,\|\cdot\|)\) and let \(T: X\to X\). Suppose that there exists a linear bounded mapping \(A: E\to E\) with {\parindent=8mm \begin{itemize}\item[(i)] \(A{(P)}\subset P\); \item[(ii)] the spectral radius \(r{(A)}<1\); \item[(iii)] \(u_n\overset{w}{}\theta\implies Au_n\overset{w}{}\theta\) for all \(\{u_n\}\subset P\); \item[(iv)] for all \(x,y\in X\) there exists \(u\in\{d(x,{y)},d(x,{Tx)},d(y,{Ty)},d(x,{Ty)},d(y,{Tx)}\}\) such that \(d(Tx,{Ty)}\leq Au\). \end{itemize}} The authors prove that under these assumptions \(T\) has a unique fixed point in \(X\).
