    The authors study properties of the so-called `level 13 analogue' of the Rogers-Ramanujan continued fraction \[ {\mathcal R}(q)={q^{1/5}\over 1+}{q\over 1+}{q^2\over 1+}{q^3\over 1+\cdots}=q^{1/5}\prod_{j=1}^{\infty}\,(1-q^j)^{\left({j\over 5}\right)}, \] where \(\left({j\over p}\right)\) is the Legendre symbol, given by \[ \begin{multlined} R(q)=q\prod_{j=1}^{\infty}\,(1-q^j)^{\left({j\over 13}\right)}\\ =q\prod_{j=1}^{\infty}\, {(1-q^{13j-12})(1-q^{13j-10})(1-q^{13j-9})(1-q^{13j-4})(1-q^{13j-3})(1-q^{13j-1})\over (1-q^{13j-11})(1-q^{13j-8})(1-q^{13j-7})(1-q^{13j-6})(1-q^{13j-5})(1-q^{13j-2})}.\end{multlined} \] There appear to be quite a number of analogous results comparing the functions \(r(q):={\mathcal R}(q)^5\) and \(R(q)\); an example is already given in \textit{S. Ramanujan}'s second notebook [Notebooks of Srinivasa Ramanujan. Vols. 1, 2. Bombay: Tata Institute of Fundamental Research (1957; Zbl 0138.24201), entry 8(i), Chapter 20]: \[ {1\over r(q)}-11-r(q)={1\over q}\,\prod_{j=1}^{\infty}\,{(1-q^j)^6\over (1-q^5j)^6}\text{ versus }{1\over R(q)}-3-R(q)= {1\over q}\,\prod_{j=1}^{\infty}\,{(1-q^j)^2\over (1-q^13j)^2}. \] After a short sections with notations and definitions, the layout of the paper is as follows: \vskip0.3cm \S3 Identities involving modular functions. \S4 Identities involving modular forms. \S5 Eisenstein groups. Contains in Theorem 5.10 interesting identities between two \({}_2F_1\) hypergeometric series and between two \({}_3F_2\) series. \S6 Differential equations. Interesting is here Theorem 6.1: \[ R{d\over dR}\left(R{dU\over dR}\right)={1\over 2U}\,\left(R{dU\over dR}\right)^2+{f(R)\over 2(1-3R-R^2)^2(1-R+5R^2+R^3+R^4)^2}U, \] where \[ f(R)=R(-2+13R-94R^2+7R^3+124R^4-23R^5-124R^6+7R^7+94R^8+13R^9+2R^{10}) \] and \[ U=U(q)=q{d\over dq}\,\log{R(q)}=1-\sum_{j=1}^{\infty}\,\left({j\over 13}\right){jq^j\over 1-q^j}. \] \S7 Series for \({1\over \pi}\). \S8 Other levels Ramanujan's theory of elliptic functions to alternative bases and beyond Extensions of the previous sections to other levels \(\ell\) with \(\ell -1\) is a divisor of \(24\), i.e. \(\ell\in\{2,3,4,5,7,9,13,25\}\).
