The semigroup \(L^1\) mentioned in the title is the two element left zero semigroup with identity adjoined. A map \(\alpha\colon X\to X\) of a set \(X\) is called a \(Y\)-Vagner map, where \(Y\) is a subset of \(X\), if 1) \(\alpha|_Y\) is a bijection on \(Y\) and 2) if \(|t\alpha^{-1}|\geq 2\) then \(t\in Y\). This notion was introduced by \textit{A. Umar} [Port. Math. 51, No. 4, 553-570 (1994; Zbl 0828.20066)]. The set \(F_Y(X)\) of all \(Y\)-Vagner maps of \(X\) is an \(\mathcal R\)-unipotent semigroup. It is proved that subsemigroups of direct powers of \(L^1\) are just the subbands of \(F_Y(X)\). It is also shown that the free left regular band on an alphabet \(A\) is embeddable into a direct power of \(L^1\). There are more results and examples.
