The authors consider a compact Lie group \(G\) and the operator \(L\), the sub-Laplacian. They study the well-posedness of the Cauchy problem involving the wave equation for the operator \(L\) with initial data, namely \[ \begin{cases} \partial_{t}^{2}u(t,x)-a(t)Lu(t,x) = 0, (t,x)\in [0,T]\times G, \\ u(0,x) = u_{0}(x), x\in G,\\ \partial_{t}u(o,x) = u_{1}(x), x\in G. \end{cases} \] The function \(a=a(t)\geq 0\) is continuous, and apply global Fourier analysis on \(G\) to view the Cauchy problem as an equation with coefficients depending only on \(t\), which leads them to distinguish between cases depending on the properties of the function \(a(t)\). In the case of local Sobolev spaces, they obtain that the regularity of the solutions depends on the order to which the Hörmander condition is satisfied. For this case, and for several others, they also stablish Gevrey well-posedness.
