A homomorphism \(h:X\to Y\) between topological semigroups \(X\) and \(Y\) is \(EH\)-continuous if the restrictions \(h\restriction H\) and \(h\restriction{ E_x}\) are continuous for any subgroup \(H\) of \(X\) and for the set \(E_x\) of all idempotents of \(X\). \textit{D. P. Yeager} [Trans. Am. Math. Soc. 215, 253--267 (1976; Zbl 0296.22005)] proved that every \(EH\)-continuous homomorphism between compact Hausdorff topological Clifford semigroups is continuous. The authors extend this result to bigger classes of topological semigroups. They prove, among other things, that every \(EH\)-continuous homomorphism \(h:X\to Y\) is continuous whenever \(Y\) is a ditopological inverse semigroup, and \(X\) is either a sequential Čech-complete topological Clifford semigroup or a metrizable hereditarily Baire topological Clifford semigroup. Note that the class of ditopological inverse semigroups contains all compact Hausdorff topological inverse semigroups and all topological groups.
