In this paper, estimates of the correct order, up to constant factors, for the upper tail of the distribution of the partition function are obtained in stationary integrable polymer models in the KPZ (Kardar-Parisi-Zhang) universality class. The results are based on an exponential identity due to Rains in the case of last passage percolation with exponential weights. Moreover, the same results are proved for the upper tail of a height function defined in terms of a model of Brownian motions interacting through a potential, at equilibrium.
