The paper under the review is an expository paper dealing with some of the fundamental problems in the representation theory of reductive groups, which covers both archimedean and non-archimedean cases. Several recent developments are also discused in detail. The first part of the paper deals with the classification of irreducible representations, and explains the restrictions to tempered and discrete series cases. In the non-archimedean case, there is a special emphasis to parametrization of the supercuspidal representations. The second and longer part of the paper is devoted to the Langlands correspondence. Several conjectures are summarized and some known results are presented. The paper under the review presents a very nice summary of certain important aspects of the representation theory of reductive groups for both novices and experts in the field. For the entire collection see [Zbl 07816358].
